Pull the Plug

Each year the Erie Canal gets drained for maintenance in the middle of November.  Pittsford Crew celebrates the end of another great rowing season on the canal with their Pull the Plug Regatta.  Located at the Pittsford DPW and old pickle factory behind the DelMonte, you can find crews trying to get one last head race in before teams have to transition to land exercises.  The regatta finish line is at Schoen Place, which is a great spot for spectators on both sides of the canal.

Pittsford Regatta
May 24-25, 2025

Beginning in 1997 as an exhibition row for the newly formed Pittsford Crew, a high school club, the Pittsford Regatta has grown to the two day event it is today.  Featuring Master rowing on Saturday morning and High school sweep rowing Saturday afternoon and Sunday, the Regatta takes place in the beautiful Village of Pittsford, on the Erie Canal.  High School events will follow a 1200 meter Sprint Race course, running in two lanes beginning just east of the Mitchell Road Bridge and are two lane Sprint Races with heats.  Due to the growth of the regatta, we run head race time trials leading to sprint race finals and petite finals.  Saturday the HS Girls fours and Boys eights will compete and Sunday the Boys fours and Girls eights will be on the water.  All races will finish in the center of Pittsford Village along Schoen Place allowing excellent viewing of the finish line and the entire course is visible from the towpath that follows the canal.
