Row for Hope
Row for Hope is a 7-8 day event in June, where varsity members of the McQuaid Jesuit Crew Team row the entire 368 miles of the Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany. The event is a fundraiser for a local charity selected by the team. This year we are raising money for the House of Mercy. This is an opportunity for our team to give back to the community we live in. Please help us help others!

Row for Hope History
McQuaid Jesuit Crew has facilitated a Row for Hope throughout the years as a way to give back to their community. Selecting a charity of the team's choice and reaching out to the community to support the boys as they row the length of the Erie Canal over the course of a week. It is a way to raise community awareness and engage with communities across the Finger Lakes area to support our neighbors in need. The years of covid substantially slowed the ability to coordinate such an undertaking and the boys of McQuaid are rebuilding the tradition! Charities in the past have included; St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality, School of the Holy Childhood, and House of Mercy.
Fundraising for House of Mercy
House of Mercy began in 1985 when Sister Grace Miller and Sister Rita opened a small house to help the homeless of Rochester. It has grown into a shelter with 76 beds. The shelter is open 24 hours and provides a safe place and food for those in need. Through the generosity and dedication of many, House of Mercy has grown and now offers transportation to health care visits, appointments, and job interviews. They are a vital asset to our community and pivotal in the success of our neighbors.
